چکیده
BackgroundRecurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury is a serious complication of thyroidectomy. The purpose this study to determine the predictors and consequences RLN during thyroidectomy.MethodsA retrospective analysis was conducted using ACS-NSQIP 2016–2017 main thyroidectomy targeted procedure databases. Data analyzed by multivariate logistic regression resulting in risk-adjusted odds ratios morbidity/mortality.ResultsAge ≥65, black race, neoplastic indication, total or subtotal thyroidectomy, concurrent neck surgery, operation time > median, hypoalbuminemia, anemia were associated with injury. Use intraoperative monitoring decreased injuries. risk factor for overall morbidity, hypocalcemia, hematoma, pulmonary readmission, reoperation, length stay median.ConclusionSeveral are identified, while use increased postoperative complications.

متن کاملComparison of the Frequency of Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Injury with and without Exploration of the Nerve in Thyroidectomy
Background & Aims: Surgeons are not willing to participate in thyroid surgeries due to dangerous, although rare, complications of the procedure. Post thyroidectomy complications are divided in early and late onset; hypocalcemia, bleeding, thyroid storm and recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury are the most important ones. This study was performed to compare the frequency of recurrent laryngeal...
متن کاملTopographical analysis of the recurrent laryngeal nerve during thyroidectomy.
There were 79 right and 65 left nerves dissected (N=144). On the right, the mean length of the dissection was 27.72 mm and on the left 31.40 mm. (Table 1). The length of the dissection ranged from 765 mm on the right and 3-62 mm on the patients left side. The mean distance from the TE groove was 4.28 mm on the right side with a range of 1-14 mm. On the left the mean distance was 4.09 mm with a ...

However, these procedures are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Available data investigating the outcomes of HIPEC are mostly limited to single-center studies. To date, there have been few large-scale studies investigatin...
